If you are in the US or Canada and want your invoices and your books under one login, use Wave: the Starter plan is free. If you want an invoice in the next two minutes with no account, or your business is outside those two countries, use this site.

Who Wave suits better
Wave is the better pick if you are in the US or Canada and want your invoices and your books in one place. The Starter plan is free with no invoice limit, it keeps bookkeeping records, it takes card and bank payments on the invoice, and Pro adds bank imports, receipt capture and automatic reminders for $19 a month. If that is the job, open a Wave account.
Who this site suits
This site suits the person who needs the document rather than the system: a one-off invoice, a quote before the job, a business outside the US and Canada, or anyone who would rather not open an accounting account to make one PDF. The free invoice generator loads your trade's line items with starting prices you edit, the Template Studio has 278 designs, and the payment links tool puts a pay link from the processor you already use on the invoice. Chasing is the real cost either way: the late payment statistics show how long invoices take to clear.

Yes. The free invoice generator here needs no signup: pick your trade, edit the loaded line items and download the PDF, with nothing stored on a server unless you sign in.
Is Wave really free?
The Starter plan is free with unlimited invoices and estimates (checked 18 September 2026). Wave earns on payment processing, 2.9% + $0.60 per card payment on Starter, and on the Pro plan at $19 a month or $190 a year.
Can I use Wave outside the US and Canada?
Wave says it focuses on the US and Canada. Its help center says users outside those countries can no longer send invoices or reminders through Wave, and it points them to Zoho Books. This site works anywhere and puts your own currency on the document.
Does Wave put its branding on invoices?
On the free Starter plan, Wave branding appears in document footers; removing it is part of Pro. Nothing made here carries any branding on the document itself. Client emails sent from the Free plan carry a small Sent with InvoiceTools footer.
Can this site do my bookkeeping like Wave?
No. There are no books here, only invoicing, quoting and calculators. If you want accounting under the same roof as your invoices, Wave is the better tool.
Can I take card payments here like Wave?
Yes, optionally. Pay now takes card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or bank payments through Stripe. Stripe charges its own fee and InvoiceTools adds 1.3% on cards or 0.5% on bank payments on the Free plan, less on Pro and Business. What do I lose by not having an account?
Saved clients, a record of what you sent, and anything that happens after the document leaves you. What you keep is speed and the fact that nothing you type reaches our servers unless you sign in to save, send a tracked link or use the AI helper. If you want the saved history, an optional free account here adds it.
