About these blank invoice forms
Print one and write on it at the end of a job, or type into it and save. Each design comes as a fillable PDF, a Word document and an Excel workbook, so you can start on paper and finish on a screen. The picture on each card shows the design with an example business filled in so you can see the layout; click it and the editor opens with every field labeled and empty, ready for your own details.

A blank template or a designed one?

What a blank invoice needs on it
A blank invoice form is only useful if every field a client needs is already labeled on it. These are the fields that make a handwritten invoice as collectable as a typed one.
Print it, or type into it
- Pick the formatPDF to print or to type into in any reader. Word to change the wording. Excel if you want the totals worked out.
- Print at 100 per centNot Fit to page, which shrinks the margins. The page is US Letter with the content inside the A4 width, so both sizes come out clean.

Questions, answered
Can I remove the parts of the blank invoice I do not need?
Yes. Click a design and it opens in an editor where every block has a delete control: the tax row, the deposit line, the reference field, the logo slot, the footer. Print what is left, or take the file in whichever format suits.
Are these blank invoice templates free?
Yes. Downloads need no account, and there is no watermark and no limit on how many you print, and nothing here counts what you take.
What is a blank invoice template?
An invoice with the structure in place and the values empty: your details, the client's, a number and dates, labeled line rows, a totals block and payment terms. You add everything that changes from job to job.
Can I fill one in by hand?
Yes, that is what the printed version is for. Every field is labeled on the page, so nothing has to be remembered.
Which format should I print?
The PDF. It prints at the size it was drawn on any machine, the rules stay put and the boxes are sized for handwriting rather than for a font. Word and Excel can shift a line depending on the fonts installed.
Will it print on A4 as well as Letter?
Yes. The page is US Letter and the content sits inside the A4 width, so nothing is clipped either way. Print at 100 per cent rather than Fit to page.
Is a handwritten invoice legally valid?
An invoice is valid on its contents, not its format. A handwritten page counts as long as the required details are there and accurate. Keep a copy for your records.
What has to be on it?
Your business name and contact details, the client's, a unique invoice number, the issue date, a description of the work, the amount due, the due date and how to pay. Tax details if you are registered.
How many line rows are there?
Eight on every design, with subtotal, discount, sales tax, amount paid and balance due underneath.
What do I write in each box on a blank invoice?
Top left is you: name, address, email, phone. Top right is the number and the dates. Under that is who it is for. The table is one line per item with a quantity, a rate and the amount. Underneath, the subtotal, any tax, the total, and how to pay.
Can I fill one in on screen instead of by hand?
Yes, three ways: type into the fillable PDF in Preview, Acrobat, Edge or your phone and save your copy; type into the Word or Excel file; or open the design in the editor here and type into the page itself.
Does a blank invoice still need a number?
Yes, and it is the field people forget. Write one in before you hand it over, in a sequence you keep, or you will not find the payment again.
Can I use a blank invoice as a receipt?
Change the heading to Receipt, note the date the money arrived and the method, and mark it paid. The receipt templates do it properly, and the receipt maker marks it paid and shows change due for cash jobs.
Is there a blank invoice template in Word?
Yes. Every design has a Word version: take the .docx from the card and type straight into it, or print it blank. The Word invoice templates page has the steps for Word itself.
Is there a blank invoice template in Excel?
