About these fillable PDF invoices
These carry real form fields, not a flat picture of a form. Open one in Preview, Acrobat Reader, Edge, Chrome or the Files app on your phone, click a field and type; Tab moves to the next one. Nothing to install. Click any design to fill it in here first with a free account, or download the PDF with no signup and fill it in your own reader.
Every field is labeled on the page, so a printed copy works as a blank invoice you fill in by hand. Choose Simple under Style for 10 plain designs, or Trades and construction for the contractor designs with a job reference field. A PDF will not add up the lines; for that, take the Excel edition of the same design.

Filling one in
- Open it in any readerPreview on a Mac, Acrobat Reader, Edge, Chrome, or the Files app on a phone. Nothing needs installing.
- Click the first field and typeTab moves to the next one in reading order, so you can fill the whole invoice from the keyboard.
- Work down the line rowsDescription, quantity, rate and amount. A PDF cannot multiply for you, so the amount is yours to enter.
- Save your copyUse Save As so the blank stays blank and you keep one file per invoice. Name it with the invoice number.
- Send or printEmail the saved PDF, or print it. The page is US Letter with the content inside the A4 width, so it prints clean on either.
A PDF is the right thing to send and the wrong thing to calculate in. If you want the totals worked out, take the Excel edition of the same design, or use the invoice generator and export the finished PDF from there.

Questions, answered
Can I remove parts of the layout before I download?
Yes. Click a design and it opens in an editor. Delete the tax row, the deposit line, the payment block or the logo, move the lines around, then print straight to PDF. The downloadable file stays as designed, so the two do not interfere.
Are these PDF invoice templates free?
Yes. No account, no watermark and no limit on how many you download.
What does fillable mean here?
The file carries real form fields. Click one and a cursor appears. A flat PDF only lets you annotate on top of it, which prints differently and moves when the file is opened elsewhere.
Do I need Adobe Acrobat?
No. Any reader that supports PDF forms fills them: Preview on a Mac, Edge and Chrome on Windows, and the Files app or built-in PDF viewer on most phones. Acrobat Reader works too and is free.
How do I save what I typed?
Choose Save As rather than Save, so your blank template stays blank. Some browser viewers need Download rather than Save, which does the same thing.
Will it print on A4?
Yes. The page is US Letter and the content sits inside the A4 width, so nothing is clipped at either size.
Can I add my logo to a PDF?
Not in most readers. The dashed LOGO box marks the spot, and Acrobat can place an image there. If your logo matters, take the Word or Excel edition of the same design, where dropping an image in takes one click.
Does the PDF add up the line items?
No. A PDF form holds what you type and nothing more. The Excel edition of the same design calculates, and so do the editor here and the invoice generator.
How do I sign one?
Use your reader's signature tool on the signature line: Fill and Sign in Acrobat, Markup in Preview. Or print it, sign it and scan it.
Can I stop the fields being edited after I send it?
Yes. Once you have filled it in, print to PDF or use your reader's flatten command. That turns the typed values into part of the page, so the client sees them and cannot change them.
Can I print one blank and write on it?
Yes. Print without filling anything in and every field prints as an empty ruled box at a size you can write in. The blank templates are the same designs prepared for exactly that.
How do I make a PDF invoice?
Download a design, fill in the fields in any reader, then use Save As so your blank stays blank. Or open the design in the editor here, type on it and print straight to PDF. Either way the client gets a file that looks the same on every device.
Can I save my business details in it for next time?
Yes. Fill in your name, address and payment details once, save that as a master copy, and start each new invoice from a copy of it. Keep the invoice numbers unbroken as you go.
Is there a fillable PDF invoice for contractors?
